"If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Matthew 17:20
Lt Mustardseed, native to Los Angeles, California, is a self-taught "non-institutionalized" artist. Lt's creatures and environments often display classic car pieces, Harley Davidson motorcycle parts, animal bones or disco balls.
Her childhood influences stemmed from Dad's Mexican cowboy rodeos and car culture to Mom's side of southern pie makers, Hollywood costumers, and arts and crafts nurturing young Lt's love of art. As soon as she could hold a hammer, she was building 3D airplanes and forts from Grandpa Mason's scrap pile.
She grew up dreaming of becoming a naval combat photographer like her great-uncle "Chick Chamblin," or joining the Secret Service to be like the character from La Femme Nikita. At 18 she joined the military.
Visiting over 17 countries across the world, she lived some of her wildest and most dangerous life experiences. Her young adult years ranged from survival training in the Luzon jungles of the Philippines to secret Arabian Bedouin parties with Saudi royalty, Gulf Air stewardesses and French mercenaries.
After serving 11 months in the Gulf War, aka Operation Desert Storm, Lt Mustardseed turned toward her spiritual side. She studied with Buddhist monks during her three-year tour in Kolsås, Norway. She was working inside of a mountain at what was then NATO headquarters. Daily she walked a mile and half into the cavernous underground past 16½- ft tall paintings of giant trolls from Norwegian folklore.
After 7+ years of active military duty, she returned to her freedom and her home country. Lt lived in Manhattan and worked in an art gallery for three years before returning home to Los Angeles in 1997.
